Travel Guide - Destin

One of the many gorgeous sunsets in Destin!!

My honey and I before we went out to eat one night.

Just recently came back from a much needed, but still not long enough, beach trip to Destin, Florida. One of my favorite beaches for sure! If you have never been then after reading this post & seeing all the beautiful pictures then I'm sure you will want to go.

This is our second time as a family that we've gone to Destin and stayed at the Majestic Sun. It's this huge set of condos on the beach that has an A side and B side to the building and it also has some penthouses if I'm not mistaking. Majestic Sun has a great indoor pool that connects to part of the outdoor one. There are also two hot tubs. It has one of nicest gyms I have seen/been to at any condo. It also has an onsite gift shop right next to the pool.

There are many places in walking distance to eat for lunch and dinner. Some places we've gone are:

1. Mezcal - This restaurant is Mexican and is like five minutes from the condo. So we started off with queso of course. I thought it was delicious. The only complaint I have about the queso is that they only have one size and it's literally so small, they put it in the same type of bowl they bring the salsa out in, so I'm sure you can imagine the size. For my entrée, I got the taco salad and it was yummy! Blake got the pollo loco (it's an appetizer) but can definitely be a meal for one person. It's a bowl of Spanish rice with grilled chicken and topped with queso. I probably ate more of it than he did lol. I thought it was SO delicious. My parents also enjoyed they're meals. My dad got the chicken quesadillas and my mom got one of the burritos. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy some Mexican cuisine on their vacay!

2. The Crab Trap - We didn't go to this restaurant on our recent trip, but we went last year. It's a seafood restaurant on the beach. I can't remember exactly what I got, but I have no doubt it was a steak lol. I remember the atmosphere a lot and I know I enjoyed the food. I also had a virgin pina colada which was good, but it had too much ice in it for my enjoyment. I like my drinks to be frozen, but not to where I drink half of it and the rest is ice. Maybe it was because I got a virgin, but I'm not 100% sure. I do overall recommend this place.

3. Twirl - This is a frozen yogurt place. I mainly went here because I wanted to try out the bubble tea and you can get it in a light bulb cup so if you know me you know I had to try it lol. The fro yo was good, just like any other place. Blake got a chocolate milkshake that I thought was really yummy. I ordered a vanilla bean bubble tea and it was decent, but I am not the biggest tea fan. They said it wouldn't taste much like tea and since I love arnold palmers I thought it wouldn't be so bad, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. (pun totally intended) BUT if you personally really like tea then I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

4. Captain Dave's - I had to save the best for last. This is also a seafood restaurant on the beach. This is currently my favorite place to eat in Destin. I wanted to try this place out last year on our trip, but it's closed on Tuesdays, so yeah. We got there some time between 6-7 and there was a 45 minute wait. They open at 4 so if you don't want to wait I'd probably be outside before they open to get a table. It was definitely worth the wait though. Basically every table has a nice view of the ocean. (probably my favorite part) They bring out bread while you're waiting for the food, which is always a plus in my book. I got the 10oz sirloin. (go figure) It was SO yummy and their mashed potatoes... omg so creamy and seasoned very nicely. It was all so delicious! Blake got a hamburger and said it was great. My parents both got the fried shrimp. They said it was seasoned really nice. Everyone loved their meals. My number one place I would recommend to anyone!

Unfortunately it rained a little more than we would have liked. The only reason I'm half way glad it rained was because we got to go shopping at this huge strip mall. It's called Silver Sands Premium Outlets. They have stores like Michael Kors, Vera Bradely, Kate Spade, Pacsun, Nike, Lids, J, Crew, North Face, and TONS more. Since it was raining just about everyone in town was there.. it was crazy, but still worth going no doubt!

Even though it rained it was still all together a great trip and I cannot wait to go back next year!! If you have any questions about the places I've mentioned or Destin in general just DM me or comment below.

xoxo steph
